Phil Farmer

Phil Farmer, son of Jess Farmer (a longtime member of Relationships for Christ), is the father of four and a young 41 year old grandfather of one. He is a humble, loving, God-fearing man, who has always bent over backwards to help friends, family and even perfect strangers. Phil is also a man in need. It was once said about the opportunity to make a difference, "I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do."

I'm also reminded of a passage of Scripture that says, "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? (James 2:15-16) Phil doesn't need food. He desperately needs medical care for his heart. In November 2010, Phil began feeling tired much of the time, but attributed it to the long hours he'd been putting in at work. Over the next few months, his symptoms progressed, but he never imagined that it was so serious. By April of 2011, he found himself in the hospital with severe chest pain. It was then, that he was diagnosed with a dangerous, and potentially life threatening heart condition.

Phil has an atrial flutter/fibrillation, a second degree AV heart block, and type II MOB. The Atrial Flutter, basically is his heart racing to a rhythm that it can not sustain and the meds he receives help have been unable to get it under control. The AV Block means that his heart is dropping beats. The doctors say it is only a matter of time before his heart stops and doesn't start again. He needs an ablation and/or a pacemaker defibrillator to fix these issues. The hospital needs $35,200 as a down payment to do the ablation. That won't cover the whole cost but they will bill him for the rest with the down payment. If they have to implant a pacemaker defibrillator, just the device will cost $40,000. They estimate around $70,000 for the ablation and around the same for a pacemaker if needed. That doesn't include the $1,700 a month for the meds he takes right now or the cost for doctors appointments every couple of weeks. Phil and his family have expended all other avenues for help from the local, state, and federal government. They so far have raised $17,000 but the longer this goes on the more he must use for meds.

Phil knows and appreciates that there are people working very hard on his behalf. Phil admits that there was a time when he was angry, but God has done a healing work as he asked God to heal, not just his physical heart, but his emotional heart as well. He knows that God is for him, not against him! And he says that he also knows that God will get glory from all of this somehow! We also know that God is for him and not against him. May I add that God often uses people like you and I to help people like Phil. Please consider helping by donating to Phil Farmer's cause by clicking on the button below. Another way to help is to spread the word by sharing this link by email, on your website or on social media sites such as Facebook and/or Twitter. Finally, prayer is a powerful weapon and is also needed. Phil is grateful for your willingness to help. It's one of the ways we express Christ's work in this world.

God bless,
